The Indonesian Ophthalmologists Association (PERDAMI) estimated that 1 in every 1,000 people in Indonesia suffers from blindness due to corneal disorders. The lack of eye donors and highly skilled ophthalmologists for corneal
transplantation created a challenge in reducing the number of blindness. In response to the condition, Indonesian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (INASCRS), in collaboration with the Asia Cornea Society (ACS),
held a scientific meeting as a platform for learning and collaboration among ophthalmologists and to help addressing the challenges in increasing the number of corneal surgeons in Indonesia.
